If you have a stack of items in your inventory, right-clicking on the stack will pick up half of that stack. Hitting I opens your inventory, which is a important part of surviving in Starbound. J brings up your Quest Journal, so you can see your current quests, and L is the Starbound Codex, which includes all documents in the game.
